Responsible Gambling at pak23

Gambling is entertainment — and pak23 is committed to keeping it that way. This page explains the tools, limits and support resources available to every user, because informed players make better decisions.

Gambling Should Always Be a Choice — Not a Compulsion

At pak23, responsible gambling is not a legal formality — it is a core part of how we operate. Whether you are placing a bet on a Pakistan vs India Test match, following PSL T20 odds from Karachi or Lahore, or trying your hand at a live casino table, you deserve access to tools and information that keep your play within healthy limits.

The reality is that for a small number of people, gambling can shift from entertainment to a problem that affects finances, relationships and mental wellbeing. Recognising the signs early — and using the tools available to you — makes a significant difference. pak23 is here to support that process.

Responsible gambling at pak23 covers six core areas: age verification and access control, deposit and loss limits, session time controls, reality checks, self-exclusion, and access to professional support. Each of these is explained in detail on this page.

pak23 does not operate a casino or sportsbook directly. However, as a gaming information and review platform serving Pakistani users, we are committed to promoting responsible play standards across every operator we cover — and to providing you with the knowledge to protect yourself when you play.

Important: The Prevention of Gambling Act, 1977 places restrictions on gambling activity in Pakistan. pak23 does not claim that any gambling activity is lawful under Pakistani law. If you are uncertain about the legal position in your area, please seek independent legal advice.

Six Tools Every pak23 User Should Know

These tools are designed to give you genuine control over your gambling experience. They are available at any time through your Account settings.

Deposit Limits

Set a maximum amount you can deposit per day, week or month. Requests to reduce your limit take effect immediately. Requests to increase your limit are subject to a mandatory cooling-off period, giving you time to reconsider. For Pakistani users thinking in PKR, setting a daily limit of PKR 1,000 or PKR 5,000 is a straightforward way to keep your spending predictable.

Loss Limits

Define the maximum net loss you are willing to accept per day, week or month. Once your loss limit is reached, the platform suspends further gameplay for the remainder of that period. This is one of the most effective tools for preventing a bad session from escalating into a serious financial problem.

Session Time Limits

Set a maximum duration for each gambling session. You will receive a notification when your limit is approaching, and the session will close automatically when the time expires. This is particularly useful if you tend to lose track of time while watching a live PSL T20 match or playing live casino games.

Reality Checks

Enable periodic pop-up notifications during play that display how long you have been playing in the current session and your net balance. Reality checks are designed to interrupt extended sessions and give you a moment to pause and assess whether you want to continue or stop.

Self-Exclusion

Request a temporary or permanent self-exclusion through your Account settings or by contacting pak23 support directly. Self-exclusion takes effect within 24 hours. During the exclusion period, your Account is suspended and you will be blocked from creating a new one. This is a serious commitment and is strongly encouraged where gambling is causing harm.

Take a Break

Not ready for self-exclusion? A "Take a Break" option lets you pause your account for a defined short period — 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days — without committing to a full exclusion. This cooling-off feature is designed for moments when you feel your play is getting out of balance and you want some distance before deciding on next steps.

Setting Your Limits — Step by Step

01

Log In to Your Account

All responsible gambling tools are accessible from your Account settings. Navigate to the "Responsible Gambling" or "Player Safety" section of your account dashboard.

Account Settings My Profile
02

Choose Your Limit Type

Select whether you want to set a deposit limit, loss limit or session time limit. You can activate multiple limits simultaneously — in fact, using all three together is the most effective approach.

Deposit Limit Loss Limit Time Limit
03

Set the Amount or Duration

Enter the PKR amount (for deposit or loss limits) or time period (for session limits) that feels comfortable. Start conservatively — you can always review and adjust within the allowed parameters.

PKR Amount Daily / Weekly / Monthly
04

Confirm and Activate

Confirm your selection. Limits that reduce your ability to gamble take effect immediately. Increases to limits or removal of limits are subject to a mandatory cooling-off period — typically 24 to 72 hours — before they become active.

Review Regularly

Review your limits periodically — monthly is a sensible interval. If your financial situation or gambling patterns have changed, adjust your limits accordingly. If you find yourself repeatedly requesting limit increases, that is a signal worth paying attention to.

Self-Exclusion at pak23 — What You Need to Know

Self-exclusion is the most powerful responsible gambling tool available. It is not a punishment — it is a commitment to your own wellbeing that pak23 actively supports. Here is exactly how it works.

  • You can request self-exclusion at any time through your Account settings or by contacting pak23 support via Live Chat or email.
  • Minimum self-exclusion period is 6 weeks. You may also request longer periods — 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or permanent exclusion.
  • Self-exclusion takes effect within 24 hours of your request being confirmed. Your Account will be suspended and you will no longer be able to log in.
  • During a self-exclusion period, you must not attempt to register a new account or circumvent the exclusion through any means.
  • Any cash balance in your account at the time of exclusion will be returned to you via your verified payment method after standard KYC checks are completed.
  • At the end of a temporary exclusion period, you will not be automatically reactivated — you must make a deliberate request to reopen your account, with a further 7-day reflection period applied.
  • Permanent self-exclusion is irreversible. Once applied, pak23 will not reopen your account under any circumstances.
To request self-exclusion immediately: Contact pak23 support via Live Chat or email [email protected] with the subject line "Self-Exclusion Request".

Warning Signs of Problem Gambling

Problem gambling rarely announces itself clearly. It tends to develop gradually, and many people do not recognise it in themselves until the impact on their finances or relationships becomes hard to ignore. The following are common early and later warning signs. If several of these apply to you — or to someone you know — it is time to take action.

Chasing Losses

Continuing to bet in an attempt to recover money that has already been lost — sometimes increasing the size of bets in the process.

Gambling Beyond Your Budget

Spending more than you planned or can afford to lose — including using money set aside for rent, bills, groceries or other necessities.

Secrecy About Gambling

Hiding gambling activity from family members or close friends, lying about the amount of time or money spent on gambling.

Borrowing to Gamble

Borrowing money specifically to fund gambling activity — from family, friends or financial services — or taking out loans or selling possessions.

Disrupted Sleep and Daily Life

Losing sleep due to gambling-related thoughts, missing work, social obligations or family commitments because of gambling.

Emotional Distress

Feeling anxious, irritable, depressed or restless when not gambling, or using gambling as a way to escape other problems or negative emotions.

Escalating Stakes

Needing to bet increasingly large amounts to feel the same level of excitement — a sign of tolerance developing, similar to substance dependency patterns.

Failed Attempts to Stop

Repeatedly trying to cut down or stop gambling without success — feeling a strong urge to return even after deciding to take a break.

One or two signs does not necessarily indicate a serious problem — but they are worth paying attention to. If three or more of these apply regularly, speaking to a professional or using pak23's self-exclusion tools is strongly recommended. You do not need to be in crisis to seek support.

A Quick Check-In With Yourself

The following questions are adapted from widely used responsible gambling self-assessment frameworks. They are not a clinical diagnostic tool, but they can help you reflect honestly on your relationship with gambling.

Answer each question honestly, thinking about the past 12 months. If you answer "Yes" to several of these questions, please consider using the tools available on your Account or reaching out to pak23 support for guidance.

This is for reflection only. pak23 does not collect or store your responses to these questions. They are provided as a private self-assessment aid only.
Answer Honestly — Just for Yourself
Q1 Have you spent more money on gambling than you originally intended to?
Q2 Have you argued with family or friends about the amount of time or money you spend gambling?
Q3 Have you tried to win back money you have lost by gambling more?
Q4 Have you borrowed money or sold possessions to fund gambling?
Q5 Have you felt the need to keep your gambling secret from people close to you?
Q6 Have you gambled to escape worry, stress or other personal problems?
Q7 Have you tried — and failed — to set limits on the amount of time or money you spend gambling?
Q8 Have you felt anxious, irritable or low when you have not been able to gamble?
If you answered "Yes" to 3 or more questions: This does not mean you have a serious problem — but it is a signal that your gambling may be moving in an unhealthy direction. Using deposit limits, loss limits or a short self-exclusion break are constructive first steps. Speaking to pak23 support confidentially is also an option available to you right now.

Protecting Under-18s — Non-Negotiable

pak23 applies a strict minimum age of 18 years, or the higher minimum required by the operator's license jurisdiction. Underage gambling causes lasting harm. These measures exist to prevent it.

Mandatory Age Verification

All new users are required to verify their age before making deposits or placing bets. A valid CNIC, passport or government-issued ID is required. Accounts where age cannot be confirmed are suspended pending verification.

Parental Control Guidance

If you share a device with children, we strongly recommend setting up parental control software to restrict access to gambling websites. Operating system parental controls on Android and iOS devices can block access to specific site categories.

Secure Your Account

Never share your Account login credentials with minors. Use a strong password and, where available, enable two-factor authentication. Logging out after every session on shared devices is a simple precaution.

Report Underage Access

If you believe a minor may have accessed the pak23 platform, please report it immediately to pak23 support via Live Chat. We will investigate immediately and take appropriate action. Reports can be made anonymously.

Age alone does not make gambling lawful in Pakistan. The minimum age of 18 is a global responsible gambling standard and operator requirement. It does not imply that gambling is legal for adults under Pakistani law. Users are responsible for understanding and complying with the laws of their own jurisdiction.

You Are Not Alone — Support Is Available

If gambling is causing problems in your life, professional support is available. The following resources are mentioned for informational purposes. pak23 does not have affiliations with these organisations and cannot guarantee service availability.

pak23 Responsible Gambling Support

Gamblers Anonymous

Gamblers Anonymous is a worldwide fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope to help each other recover from gambling problems. Meetings and phone support are available in many countries. Pakistani users may be able to access online or international chapter resources — search for "Gamblers Anonymous" for current availability in your region.

Gam-Anon

Gam-Anon provides support for the families and close friends of people affected by problem gambling. If someone you care about has a gambling problem, Gam-Anon offers a community of people who understand the experience from a family perspective.

Mental Health Professionals

Problem gambling is recognised as a behavioural condition that responds well to cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches. Consulting a qualified mental health professional in Pakistan — available in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other major cities — can provide structured support tailored to your specific situation.

GamCare (International Resource)

GamCare is a UK-based organisation that provides information, advice and free counselling for problem gamblers and those affected by gambling. While primarily UK-focused, its online resources and information guides are publicly accessible and may be useful for Pakistani users seeking written guidance on problem gambling.

National Institute of Mental Health, Pakistan

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Islamabad provides psychiatric and psychological services. While not gambling-specific, NIMH and associated provincial mental health facilities can provide assessment and referral for behavioural health concerns including gambling-related issues. Contact details are publicly listed on the Pakistan Ministry of Health website.

Keeping Gambling Fun — Practical Tips for Pakistani Players

Before You Start
  • Decide in advance how much money and time you are prepared to spend — and stick to it, regardless of the outcome.
  • Only gamble with money you can genuinely afford to lose. Never use funds needed for rent, utility bills, food or family expenses.
  • Set your deposit and loss limits in Account settings before your first session, not after you have already started playing.
  • Understand the games you are playing. pak23 provides information on RTP, house edge and volatility so you can make informed choices.
  • Avoid gambling when you are stressed, anxious, tired or under the influence of alcohol. Emotional states significantly impair decision-making quality.
While You Are Playing
  • Take regular breaks. Step away from the screen every 30 to 60 minutes, even briefly. Enable reality checks in your Account to prompt you automatically.
  • Accept losses as the cost of entertainment — not as a reason to play more. The odds are designed so that the house maintains an edge over time.
  • Do not increase bet sizes in response to a losing streak. "Chasing losses" is one of the most common and damaging gambling behaviours.
  • Keep track of time. It is easy to lose awareness of how long a session has been running, especially during live sports events like PSL T20 or ICC tournaments.
  • If you reach your deposit or loss limit, stop for the day. The limit exists precisely for this moment.
